Absolutely. The hardware is absolutely incredible, and delivers on its promises (i.e. casual fun that lasts long after the initial novelty wears off).
However, it ought to have been integrated far more thoroughly into the Xbox experience along with greater support for its speech recognition. MS simply aren't using the device to even a fraction of its potential even for day-to-day applications.
Trying it out is the key- but it's still not really enough tip undecided consumers off of the fence. As always, the third party support will make or break it... which sadly means that most people will be better off taking a "wait and see" attitude at this stage.
As a veteran gamer who loves nothing more than virtual ultraviolence, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I approve of the bill. Games deserve to be treated the same as films in every respect- which means that mature games shouldn't be legally played by minors.
Why should 12 year olds be able to play horrifically violent games? Gaming offers a broad palette of titles for every age group. Not only that, but it will effectively silence the (bullsh*t) "g...
It's annoying to see even industry 'veterans' like Pachter compare Move and Kinect. They're not in direct competition with each other- as they have a completely different target audience, install base and function. It's inflammatory and misleading to compare them on any level... but watch the fanboys go ahead and do it anyway.
As far as the numbers are concerned, I personally think that Move will continue to sell consistently over the coming months as more ...
I'm just going to play devil's advocate for a second. Whilst I object to online subs on principle, it would create an online environment of gamers that are simply there to enjoy the experience, rank up and have fun. It's unlikely that griefers and hackers are going to bother paying the fees, creating a much safer and more dedicated online following.
Agreed. Move and Kinect are not in direct competition with each other- and it's misleading (and inflammatory) to suggest that they are.
Their first party studios certainly do. Media Molecule has hired on amateur LBP level designers etc- and there's a lot to be said for recognising upcoming talent and doing something about it.
For sure! But remember that this was just the straw that broke the camel's back. There's a lot more to sort out in order for the service to realise its true potential.
Nice list, though Michael McConnohie gets my number 1 every time! Legend.
I'd have put Terri Brosius (SHODAN from System Shock 2) on there.
Actually, it's so good it's good! The pros far outweigh its cons- and it takes seriously impressive scripting to pull that off.
Leaving Kinect out of the equation, this whole concept of "looking stupid" is ridiculous. Playing games should be fun above all else- end of.
We all probably "look silly" hunched in front of a televisions enjoying our favourite hobby. Grow up, guys.
This is really useful consumer info- regardless of what people personally think about the peripheral. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Yeah, there's bound to be an element of practise involved. A good player is a good player at the end of the day.
Agreed- whilst it's a fun way of getting extra singleplayer value from the controller, it's guaranteed to get you humiliated online.
Firstly, this was on the Eurogamer show floor- and simply quitting back to the main menu allows anyone access to the closed-doors campaign level. Most people were too preoccupied with Beast Mode to notice, but a couple of us were happy to give it a whirl. Press had early access to the floor on Friday and the reps were too busy setting up/briefing to notice.
Secondly, no, that's not how it worked. Players were returned to the multiplayer lobby after each game- NOT a splash...
I think Brute Force showed real promise- and that its few flaws could've been easily rectified with a sequel. I actually enjoyed it a lot.
That's an excellent question considering the huge number of controls that the original threw at us.
Maybe this will be the first title that uses both Kinect and a controller? Or has Kinect elements/minigames?
Good shout.
Spot on, it was revealed at TGS. The article was pending for a few days though, as explained in the text.
The next logical step is an edible casemod...
